The Parish of the New-Martyr Princess St. Elizabeth (New York, USA), Headed by Fr. Dmitry Weiber, Came Under the Omophor of Bishop Stefan of Trenton and North-America

The ROCOR parish of the New-Martyr Princess St. Elizabeth, which is located near the city of Rochester (NY, USA), has transferred under the omophor of the Most Reverend Bishop Stefan of Trenton and North-America of the Russian Church Abroad (under the omophor of the Synod of the RTOC) from Bishop Agafangel (Pashkovsky). The pastor of the parish, Priest Dmitry Weiber, is a graduate of the Jordanville Holy Trinity Theological Seminary.

Father Dmitry, until recently, had hoped that the leadership of the PSEA could remove their personal ambitions and start a dialogue with the RTOC. He also has consistently opposed the uncanonical interference of the Greek Synod in Resistance in the internal affairs of the Russian Church. As stated in the Protocol “Assembly of the Representatives of the ROCOR Parishes” in Astoria (New York, NY), dated 10 July 2007, “Priest Dmitry Weiber objected to the possibility of joint ordinations of ROCOR bishops with the Synod in Resistance of Metropolitan Kyprian.”

Since Bp. Agafangel (Pashkovsky) has refused to engage in dialogue with the RTOC and consecrated new bishops with the help of two bishops from the Greek Synod in Resistance, Fr. Dmitry with the parish of the New-Martyr Princess St. Elizabeth decided to transfer under the omophor of the Most Reverend Bishop Stefan of Trenton and North-America of ROCOR.
